Stepping It Up to Get a Job

Here's a fun story I did last week...While driving down Washington Street, I passed this guy trying to get a job. Not too out of the ordinary these days, but it's how he was promoting himself. The man was on stilts!

Please Sir, Extra Shrimp?

Here's your "are you serious?" for the day...Apparently a Haltom City, Texas woman wanted extra shrimp, and when she didn't get it, she panicked. She panicked in the form of calling 911. Yes, the woman ordered extra shrimp while dining out at a restaurant and when they didn't bring it, she dialed 911 in her state of panic.

Here's the transcript from the call:

Shrimp Lady: "I just purchased some shrimp fried rice up here. I always get the shrimp fried rice so I said I'm gonna get extra meat this time, but he didn't even put extra shrimp in there and I asked him if he could give me extra shrimp or is he gonna give me my money back and he started hollering. So I told him I'm gonna call the police."

911 Dispatch:"Okay well I'm gonna get somebody out there."

Shrimp Lady: "Well how long?"

911 Dispatch: "I don't know how long. As soon as I can."

Shrimp Lady:"Okay."

911 Dispatch: "I'm sorry I can't here you. Do what?"

Shrimp Lady: "How fast does it take to get a police officer up here? What has to happen.?'

911 Dispatch: "I'm gonna send an officer. I just don't known how long it's gonna take?"

Shrimp Lady: "Okay thank you."

I'd pay to see what this woman looks like...

Frankie the Walk n Roll Dog

I'm in the Dachshund mood now...I love weiner dogs, Jager was my first weiner dog love, now I just can't get enough of those short-legged pups!

Here's an inspirational story about Frankie the Walk N Roll Dog.

This adorable Oscar Mayer-ish dog is handicapped, and through his blog he promotes a message that animals with disabilites deserve a chance at life.

Donate for Dachshunds

My friend Nichole is getting a new puppy...and an adorable one at that! His name is Albus McWeenie. (I think that's how you spell it!)

Anyway, instead of throwing a puppy shower, (yes, they have those) Nichole is being a good human and asking people instead to donate to Donate for Dachshunds. It's
it's run by the bloggers of who's your dachshund and will be helping out shelters in Canada, USA and South Africa.

Still need convincing? Check out the website here for some serious puppy eyes that will have you reaching for your wallet.

And yes, they are also on Twitter...Check out the Twitter feed here.

Cherry Blossoms!

Spring is here---with the exception of today's weather--which means Cherry Blossom time in D.C.!

Last weekend I was so excited for the beautiful weather JW and I spent the day looking at Cherry Blossoms. It was a beautiful day, and a wonderful excuse to stroll through the monuments!

Since Sunday was just as nice as Saturday, we spent the day in Annapolis, one of my favorite cities. I can't wait to go back this summer and venture out onto the water!

Fashion for Paws 2009 = A Success

Thanks to your donations, Fashion for Paws 2009 was a huge success! We raised more than $240,000 for the abused, neglected and homeless animals of Washington, D.C. And a bonus: we had a blast!

Honorary Chairs included: Actor, Val Kilmer, NBC’s Luke Russert, Animal Planet’s Victoria Stilwell and DC Councilmember, Jack Evans. The Master of Ceremonies was Pamela Sorensen.
